Despite having the tendency to offer decidedly bland production cars, Toyota occasionally surprises us with interesting concept cars. Such is the case with the C-HR concept making its debut at the Paris Motor Showt this week. It's a concept showing forward-thinking design that hints at "a type of crossover vehicle Toyota would like to bring to market," according to the automaker's release, and it rides on an all-new platform and uses a hybrid powertrain.
About that powertrain: Toyota isn't revealing anything, just saying that it will – brace yourselves – "deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency" (over what, exactly?) The car also uses a brand-new architecture, though it hasn't really revealed any major details about that aspect, either.
It's a high-riding, muscular thing, with a rakish hatchback shape. Should it reach production, Toyota says it would take the shape of a C-segment crossover. It'd be cool to see something like this hit the road someday, but for now, we won't hold our breath.

The new Golf GTE, a plug-in hybrid fitted with a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo four-cylinder and an electric motor for a combined output of 201 horsepower. With its E suffix, this Golf suggests a blending of efficiency and sportiness. The GTE is touted as a sibling of the fun-to-drive Golf GTI and GTD models.
It's engine, electric motor, and transmission are fully shared with the recently introduced Audi A3 e-tron, but VW was the leading partner in the development of this powertrain. As with the Audi, you can choose a pure E-mode for electric-only operation; a wide-open-throttle boot will override it should you find yourself needing to make a swift departure.
The GTE is perhaps as rewarding a plug-in hybrid as we’ve experienced. Compared with, say, a Toyota Prius plug-in, the GTE simply plays in another league.

Mercedes-Benz S550 Plug-In Hybrid
4:30 PMMercedes-Benz is expanding its S-Class lineup for 2015 with a plug-in hybrid version, joining the S400 Hybrid and the S300 BlueTEC Hybrid. The S550 Plug-in Hybrid features an extreme level of technical innovations all working together to produce the most efficient driving experience while still offering all the posh buyers expect from Mercedes.
The sedan uses a twin-turbocharged, V-6 engine and a high-voltage, 8.7 kWh lithium-ion battery to motivate the car. A super-compact electric motor fits in place of the seven-speed automatic’s torque converter, allowing for easy fitment under the S-Class’ floor pan.
Four drive modes allow the driver to chose between Hybrid, E-Mode (electric only, E-Save (less electric, more gasoline) and Charge (charges the battery while driving). The S550 Plug-in Hybrid also uses recuperative braking system to slow the car. The system works to eliminate the noticeable transition between the conventional brakes and the electric motor in generator mode.

On top of recuperative braking, the S550 Plug-in Hybrid lives up to its name by offering a receptacle in the rear bumper for charging from a power source. What’s more,Mercedes is working alongside BMW on a wireless, inductive charging system. Mercedes hasn’t revealed when inductive charging with be available, but expect it in the future.
Mercedes has managed to make a very capable hybrid out of its largest sedan. Of course, the S550 Plug-in Hybrid isn’t the most cost-effective way to save on fuel, but it surely is one of the more luxurious and exciting ways. With tons of tech and comfort far beyond the norm, the S550 is a rich nerd’s dream machine.

Nissan’s ZEOD RC electrified race car lasted just 23 minutes in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race, with the dart-shaped car forced to retire due to gearbox trouble. However, Nissan still reached its goals for the car, which included completing a full lap under electric power (achieved during qualifying) and hitting a top speed of 186 mph.
Very few people outside of Nissan have been able to drive the car, but recently the people behind the magazine version of Top Gear were able to take the car down to the famous track at Dunsfold Aerodrome and give it a spin.
Powering the ZEOD RC is a plug-in hybrid system that pairs an electric motor with aturbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder putting out an incredible 400 horsepower on its own. Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed gearbox, and the driver has the ability to swap between electric, gasoline and hybrid modes.
AutoEvolution reported that BMW will bring 500 unit of i8 to United States. The i8 is not just having a hybrid engine but also all material will be used from recycle items to make it as environmentally as possible.
This car has a lot of power. It can generate up to 362 hp and can go from 0 - 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. With hybrid engine, it will only use 2.2 L per 100 km. The car will have a price tag for about $136,625.00 (around MYR 440,000.00).
So, the next question, how many units will be delivered to Malaysia? We don't know yet.
