Honda has revealed details of a new sporty Civic variant bound for next month's Paris motor show.

Dubbed the Civic Sport, the new small car offers visual links to the upcoming Civic Type R, the company says. However, unlike the 206kW Type R unveiled at the Geneva motor show in April, the Sport model will be offered with existing petrol and diesel drivetrains from the regular Civic range. They include an 88kW 1.6-litre diesel engine or a 104kW 1.8-litre petrol engine.

Cosmetically, the Civic Sport receives a sporty front bumper, mesh grille inserts and 17-inch alloy wheels – the front end purportedly previewing the upcoming Type R.

The new model will be unveiled alongside a facelifted regular Civic range due for 2015. The updated models receives exterior revisions including new headlamps with integrated daytime running lights and a new bumper design. The Civic hatchback also features a new rear bumper, side skirts, a rear spoiler finished in black and LED rear combination tail lights.
