The much-awaited Proton compact car, developed at a cost of RM500 million over the past four years, is set for launch on September 25 in Tanjung Malim, Perak, according to a Bernama report.

Powered by a new engine, the 23rd Proton model is built on a new platform at the Tanjung Malim plant, Proton Holdings Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah was reported as saying. He said model would be named during the official launch of the car.
