A mysterious BMW M4 Coupe has been spied on the Nürburgring. While the car is wearing MotoGP safety car stickers, our spy photographer believes the model is actually a lightweight version of the M4 Coupe. Nothing is official but the car does appear different than the current MotoGP safety car
The changes are relatively minor but include a bigger front spoiler and a fixed rear wing. The prototype also features Recaro seats but those could simply be for testing purposes.
BMW has downplayed the possibility of an M4 CSL but rumors have suggested they will offer an M4 GTS in 2016. That particular model is slated to feature additional carbon fiber and aluminum components which could enable it to tip the scales at less than 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs). The car is also rumored to have a sportier suspension and a stripped out interior with lightweight racing seats.
